Project Manager- Pakistan National Stop Transmission of Polio Program

Under the overall guidance of the Senior CDC IGH Advisor and IGH/CDC Leadership, the  Project Manager NSTOP will oversee the management of Pakistan’s NSTOP Program. He/she is expected to perform following key duties at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) for the Polio Eradication Initiative:

Responsibilities:

The NSTOP Project Manager shall;

  • Provide strategic and technical support to all NSTOP program areas
  • Participate in the design and conduct of training for the NSTOP assignees
  • Conduct bi-monthly supervisory and capacity-building visits with each NSTOP assignee
  • Monitor and evaluate Field work of NSTOP assignees through routine phone and email communication and site visits in their States of assignment.
  • Foster inter-agency collaboration, and partnership on communication on NSTOP and other polio vaccine-preventable diseases.
  • Provide updates to the inter-agency team on key activities and outcomes on NSTOP assignees.
  • Represent the NSTOP Program in meetings with the Government and partners
  • Provide monthly reports to CDC-GID Project Officer and IGH leadership on summary of activities
  • Prepare Quarterly reports for NSTOP inter-agency partnership.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and presentations for meetings as required
  • Oversee administrative functions of the NSTOP program, including assignments, policies, etc. in consultation with respective Government Authorities.
  • Travel to provinces to meet with Provincial EOC coordinators, District Coordinators and other stakeholders.
  • Participate actively in pre-campaign and intra-campaign supportive supervision and monitoring in the most challenging districts and union councils
  • Create an environment of transparency and openness, encouraging dialogue and continuous improvement.
  • Recognize and reward great work based on merit, ensuring fair and equitable practices within the program.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Master of Public Health, specialization in Field Epidemiology is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience serving in a similar management and leadership position in a reputable Organization involving team mentoring and coaching.
  • At least 5 years of prior work experience in immunization activities – preferably polio eradication – or related public health programs working in collaboration with NGOs, UN organizations, Government agencies or Ministries.
  • Demonstrated results-based management experience

Experience:

  • Experience in working with the Pakistan EPI and/or PEI program
  • Expertise in routine immunization, polio eradication, and Vaccine-Preventable Disease surveillance, plus proven project management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Pakistan government functions; preferably senior-level job experience in federal /provincial health departments
  • Knowledge and experience on strategies to reach areas with insecurity with immunization services will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of standard computer software packages with experience in MS Word, MS Excel spreadsheets, MS PowerPoint

Other Required Skills and abilities

  • Analytical approach to work and ability to make quick but balanced decisions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in local Pakistani languages, particularly Pashto is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and an investigative initiative.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
  • Able to work as part of a team and to build strong working relationships.
  • Ability and readiness to travel, as this position involves field supervision.
